GAINCO INTRODUCES UPGRADES FOR POULTRY OVERHEAD SYSTEMS TO OPTIMIZE EFFICIENCY & VALUE
Gainesville, Ga., November 27, 2006 — Gainco, Inc. announces the introduction of two upgrades for their overhead systems which optimize the efficiency of multiple lines through the consolidation and simplification of operating management requirements and improve accuracy with high speed weighing.
According to Jim Petersen, Director of Sales & Marketing, Gainco’s InterSystems™ software brings an extra degree of efficiency and yield optimization to the poultry processing industry – even as customer spec requirements for product output become tighter and more challenging than ever. “In essence, our software enables processors to treat two or more overhead lines as a single seamless system, instead of having to manage them individually,” he said.
“Using our software, birds from multiple lines are weighed and dropped at the most advantageous locations, without respect to which line onto which they were originally hung. The incidence of ‘out-of-range’ birds is dramatically reduced, and each bird is generating the most value possible,” Petersen stated, noting that end-of-day plant production run histories have traditionally shown that a significant percentage of birds should have been directed to higher-value drops, but weren’t because of the inherent inefficiencies of running multi-line OH systems directing out-of-range birds to less ideal drop locations to fulfill customer requirements.
InterSystems™ software from Gainco can be integrated into either overhead or belt sizing lines – linking together as many as four separate lines if desired. Gainco has developed the software to operate on a Windows®-based PC platform, making it far more user-friendly than older DOS-based programs.
In addition to being incorporated into new processing lines, InterSystems™ software can be included in upgrades to existing processing lines, with only modest electronic hardware modifications required.
Digital Load Cells, the next generation of accuracy and speed, provide the advantage of RF and EMI resistance eliminating weighing inconsistencies due to plant electrical noise. Higher scan rates and electronic filtering increase both speed and accuracy minimizing product giveaway. All relevant data is filtered, scaled and digitized directly into the control system at measurements rates of up to 600 per second, up to 10 times faster than the traditional analog systems. The rapid weighing response prevents production bottlenecks and improves productivity.
Manufactured of heavy duty stainless steel, the Digital Load Cell’s permanently sealed housing is
designed specifically for the harsh environment of meat and poultry processing facilities. Electronic vibration suppression eliminates the need for mechanical or viscous damping materials.
Gainco, Inc., a subsidiary of Bettcher Industries, is a leading supplier of scale systems for the poultry
processing industry. Gainco and WSS offer design engineering, equipment manufacturing, systems delivery and comprehensive service contracts to poultry processing facilities nationwide, as well as outside the United States.
