Mullin/Ashley Wins in the 2013 Aster Awards National Competition for Excellence in Medical Marketing

Chestertown, Md., March 15, 2013– Mullin/Ashley Associates, a mid-Atlantic branding, communications, PR and marketing research firm, has been recognized in the 2013 Aster Awards national competition.  

Two awards were won by Mullin/Ashley for marketing campaigns created for Atlantic General Hospital, a regional healthcare organization located near Ocean City, Md.

A Gold Award was won for a marketing communications campaign targeting residents of Southern Delaware.  The goal was to increase public awareness of Atlantic General as the hospital that is closest and most convenient for Southern Delaware patients, in addition to its reputation as a top-quality healthcare institution.

Carrying the theme “I’m a Delaware doctor, and Atlantic General is my hospital,” the campaign used the hospital’s own Delaware-based physicians to communicate the “close-convenient-competent-caring” message.  Mullin/Ashley produced a complete set of campaign materials, including TV/cable and radio advertising, magazine and newspaper advertising, outdoor billboards, direct mail and e-mail marketing, web advertising, plus graphic panels for display in physician offices.

Since the launch of the campaign in the 4th Quarter of 2012, outpatient service utilization by residents of Southern Delaware has experience increased growth for the hospital.

A Silver Award was also won by Mullin/Ashley for an educational campaign pertaining to Atlantic General Hospital’s new PERKS program (Patient Electronic Record-Keeping Service).  PERKS is a state-of-the-art system that delivers a complete, integrated medical records capability while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all medical information.

The purpose of the campaign was to educate hospital employees, the regional caregiver community, and the public at large about how PERKS improves the delivery of healthcare services and facilitates collaboration between doctors and clinicians.  Mullin/Ashley created communications materials that included a new PERKS logo, messaging themes, community advertising, educational brochures, banner signage and tabletop display posters.

The Aster Awards, conducted under the auspices of Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine, is a major national competition recognizing excellence in medical marketing communications.  Each entry is judged on criteria including creativity, layout and production quality, as well as overall message effectiveness and consumer appeal.

The Aster Awards program has been established for more than 20 years.  This is the sixth year that Mullin/Ashley Associates has entered the competition and won.  Phillip Nones, president and director of client services, stated, “Winning in the Asters underscores the reputation we’ve built in the healthcare field.  We’re pleased that two key marketing initiatives undertaken for one of our healthcare clients, Atlantic General, have been recognized in this national awards program.”
