Is there a Company Name Change in your Future?

New products, new customers, and changing marketing environments may suggest that a new name for your company is in order.

You won’t be the first company to agonize over a decision like that. 

If you do decide to make a change, be sure it’s for all the right reasons.

Here are some things you should consider in a new name:

  • Be sure the name is easy to pronounce. Clever names are a temptation, but if they don’t roll off the tongue effortlessly, you’ll be fighting mispronunciation all your business life.
  • Avoid adopting an acronym for a name. The initials may signify something to you internally,  but more likely than not, they’ll be completely meaningless to the market ... and totally forgettable as well.
  • Choose a name different enough that you can avoid marketplace confusion and potential legal issues.
  • Don’t forget to check if a web site address is still available for your new name.
