Mullin/Ashley Wins in the 2012 Aster Awards National Competition for Excellence in Medical Marketing
July 23, 2012 – Mullin/Ashley Associates, a mid-Atlantic branding, communications, PR and marketing research firm, has been recognized in the 2012 Aster Awards national competition with winning entries for two clients.
A Gold Award was won by Mullin/Ashley in the competition’s “medical devices – multi-page brochure” category for product literature written, designed and produced for Exsurco Medical.
The brochure was part of a complete set of marketing materials created by Mullin/Ashley for this new company, which has recently introduced a type of skin grafting and bone debridement device used in the treatment of burn victims. The technology is a complete departure from conventional debriding methods, necessitating the development of marketing materials that educate customers as well as promote to them.
Among the items designed and produced by Mullin/Ashley for Exsurco Medical are a company logo and tagline, a new website, product spec sheets and a corporate stationery package. The website contains application videos demonstrating the new methods of debridement using the Exsurco devices.
A Silver Award was won by Mullin/Ashley for an internal communications campaign targeting employees of Atlantic General Hospital, a healthcare service provider located in Berlin, Md., near Ocean City.
The campaign, titled The Difference is Dedication, was created by Mullin/Ashley to showcase the hospital performance awards and citations attained by the hospital and its employees during 2010 and 2011. These include recognition from the American Stroke Association, the Delmarva Foundation, HCAHPS/Department of Health & Human Services, and others.
The campaign kickoff began with a special event for employees. Next, banners and signage were placed throughout the hospital and its satellite facilities to reinforce the positive news – while also communicating the information to hospital patients and visitors.
The Difference is Dedication campaign has since been expanded to reach the larger community through publicity in the local media plus award information uploaded on the Atlantic General website.
The Aster Awards, conducted under the auspices of Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine, is a major national competition recognizing excellence in medical marketing communications. Each entry is judged on criteria including creativity, layout and production quality, as well as overall message effectiveness and consumer appeal.
The Aster Awards program has been established for more than 20 years. This is the fifth year that Mullin/Ashley Associates has entered the competition and won. Phillip Nones, president and director of client services, stated, “Winning in the Asters underscores the positive reputation we’ve built in the healthcare field. We’re pleased that work for two of our medical clients has been recognized in this national awards program.”
